Breakfast acrobatics for mummy!

JJ had some oatibix for breakfast (using a random box of formular I had in the cupboard as we had run out of milk). He didn't eat much so I tried a banana but most of it went onthe floor. I did interrupt his breakfast by trying to chase the dog (and a visiting dog) off the flowerbed and ended up tripping over and siding spreadeagled accross the grass. So glad it was early and hopefully no one saw. I came back in covered in mud and grass stains, laughing so hard I could barely breathe and it strangely distracted JJ from his eating!

Lunch was a wholemeal crust roll with philly, home grown cherry tomatoes and cinnamon apples which went down very well.

JJ has started having snack in the afternoon and today this was at his friend Luca's christening party where he had some sandwich and a couple of other bits and bobs.

For tea he had a bit of a mixture as we were a bit late back: a slice of fruit toast, a packet of steamfresh veg, a couple of bit of chicken in a crurry flavoured almond and yogurt sauce and banana and yogurt. Quite a mix but he enjoyed it.

Egg sandwiches

JJ had ready break with banana for breakfast and loved every messy minute of it!

For lunch he had egg sandwiches. He hasn't had normal sandwiches before - just things on bread, but he loved them and ate lots. He also had nectarine and raisins.

For tea we had roasted veggies with pasta and a tomato and garlic sauce. He really enjoyed it and had fruit for pudding.

Biccy thief!

Jacob had a good breakfast of some oatibix, some cornflakes a plum and half a banana - not bad considering he is now on antbiotics for a bad chest.

For lunch he had the pasta which he couldn't manage from last night. It went down well this time with some raisins and lots of juicy watermelon.

Tea was some rosemary, garlic and balsamic roast potatoes (a la Jamie Oliver!) and pork chops with roasted carrots and fruit crumble and yogurt for pud (with a tiny bit of ice cream for a treat!). He didn't eat loads but had a fair bit - not bad considering that 10 mins before tea he somehow reached a packet of custard creams which I though I had put out of reach and helped himself to one. He was so excited that he had reached them and managed to get one in his mouth that I didn't have the heart to take it off him so he ate the lot!!!

nothing new!

JJ had some oaibix for breakfast but not many and wierdly a whole banana - he doesn't often bother with banana but it was obviously what he fancied this morning!

For lunch we had philly, cheese and spinach quesadillas which seemed to go down well. He also had a mini box of rasins whch he tried as a snack for the first time yesterday. He scoops them up by the fist full!

Tea was a bit of a disaster as he had hardly slept yesterday (he is still a bit poorly and we had to go shopping for new clothes for him after he wore the same trousers for 3 days in a row!) and he was over tired. He had a few moutfuls of tuna pasta which he seemed to enjoy but got too tired. He managed a couple of spoons of greek yogurt and squished raspberries before losing the plot. He only managed a tiny bf before falling fast asleep!

Liver - better luck this time!

JJ had a normal breakfasttoday with some watermelon.

For lunch he had philly on toast, yogurt, pear and melon. I came home from work a tlunch today and he was so ecited to see me but was covered in yogurt at the time so I couldn't scoop him up and cuddle him which he wasn't happy about!

Tea was liver cooked in a casserole this time (will put the recipe in the recipe blog soon) and JJ loved it as you can see from the video. He ate lots with mash and veggies followed by fresh raspberries. Yum!

Tuesday 25 September 2007

roast

On Monday he had some swwet potato and veggies at some point and also watermelon. For tea he had cheesy pitta, butterbeans and watermelon. He absolutely loved the butterbeans!!

Tuesday he had fruit toast for breakfast as he was feeling poorly and I thought something new would help. In the end he had some oatibix too but not much.

Lunch was a huge hit as he had mashed up boiled egg with a bit of mayo spread on slices of french bread. He absolutely loved it! He was licking off the egg and then gobbling up the bread. A big success!

For tea he had roast dinner - lamb, roasties, mash carrots and broccoli and then had cinnamon apples for pudding. He loves roast dinner. Despite his horrid cough he has been eating really well. Probably needs the energy as he wil not sit down and insists on standing at every oppertunity!

The Weekend

Look at my little hobbit drinking with his feet!

We had a lovely weekend at JJ's nanna and Grandad's house. He ate usual things really. He did enjoy a picnic after me and his nanna and all his aunties and cousins did 'Race for Life'. He munched on veggie quiche, chicken and lots and lots of french bread and butter - a firm favourite at the minute.

Pizza and Spaghetti

(will post pics soon)
JJ has a horrid cough but still managed a good few oatibix and a bowl of cornflakes for breakie, followed by half a small brioche!

For lunch I needed to use up the second pizza base I'd bought so he had ham and spinach pizza and a pear (a very juicy pear!).

Tea followed the italian theme and was meatballs in tomato sauce with spaghetti and cheese followed by yogurt. His first taste of spaghetti was quite amusing. He picked up the pile and tossed it over the side as I don't think he realised it was food. Then he played with it for a while, then started putting it in his mouth, sucking off the sauce and pulling it back out, before finally eating some! He had such fun. He also enjoyed the meatballs which is good as I don't think he is getting enough meat/iron and I want to try to get him eating more.

Other news - he is loving chasing our cat all over the ground floor now that it is raining and she has come in from the garden. He squeals with excitement but never catches her! He is always bumping his head now he has started cruising the furniture (a real big bump this morning!) and he also finds it hilarious when I out something odd on my head or in my mouth! I couldn't love him any more-he's great!

Off to see nanna and grandad tomorrow so may not post this weekend x

Thursday 20 September 2007

JJ had an average breakfast.

For lunch he had some butternut squash, carrot and corriander soup with bread. We loved it but he wasn't too fussed - I don't think he liked the mush texture of the bread with the soup on. So he had some stand-by philly on toast, rice cakes and some tomatoes.

Tea was casserole and potatoes wit fruit for lunch.

Wednesday 19 September 2007

Squash, beans and rice

JJ ate very little breakfast today but did get quite hungry later in the day, according to daddy who was in charge, so had some pear and malt loaf in the morning . He had lots of lunch - mackerel pate on toast, turkey meatballs and banana yogurt.

For tea he had some rice cakes to keep him patient! rice cakes (he likes rice cakes now but was not too fussed before) and spiced butternut squash and bean casserole - he just loved the kidney beans! He also had rice which he hasn't really had before but managed it well. He had a little treat of some custard for pud. He does seem to like having some pudding then going back to his savory and back to pudding again - odd - but if he gets fussy during a meal a few spoons of sweet and he will carry on.

Tuesday 18 September 2007

Salmon Fishcakes

JJ had his usual breakfast and for lunch he had home made pizza (well I bought the base but I had intended to make it!). I put tomato puree, grated carrot, skmoked mackerel and cheese on top. He loved it and worked his way through 5 slices. He also Had fruit I think.

For tea he had slamon fishcakes, a little bit of mash and vegies. He thoroughly enjoyed mushing the whole lot into a pile a mush - nice.

Monday 17 September 2007

Mash-tastic

JJ had another good breakfast today of oatibix and nectarine. Glad he is back on form!

Lunch was smoked mackerel blended with cream cheese and a touch of greek yogurt spread on toasted french bread - he loves this meal. He also had a handful of my homegrown tomatoes and a whole cinnamon apple - we both love cinnamon apple so much and it only takes a minute to cook!

For tea JJ had salmon, mashed potato and veg. He gobbled it up so quickly you would have thought he hadn't been fed in a week! He also had yogurt for pudding.

Sunday 16 September 2007

Day with daddy

JJ had breakfast with me this morning before I took myself off shopping for the day - he had quite a few Oatibix and about 5 or 6 tablespoon of cornflakes - he cant get enough.

Lunch was philly on toast (as usual when it'd down to daddy!!!) and lots of tomatoes, cucumber and some plum.

For tea he had cheesy pasta, nectarine and a couple more tomatoes.

sweetcorn and fish and chips

JJ had Oatibix and cornfalkes with some plum for breakfast again today which went down quite well.

Lunch was another success. JJ had lots of sweetcorn for lunch - he has never really been that fused on it before but he ate bucket loads of it today! He also had cheesy wholemean pitta and some friut.
For tea JJ had fish and chips - baked cod which he quite liked and some chunky home made oven chips, along with broccoli and yogurt and banana for pud. He didn't eat as much as he did for lunch and he is still obsessed with dropping food over the edge of his high chair and smililng when it makes a splat sound. He also like to bite into the end of the chip and then shake the bit that was hanging off until it fell. He would then pick it up and eat it - every time!

Other news - JJ is getting about all over the place and is standing up on everything possible - radiators, sofas, toys and trying to climb the stairs - he is having so much funn. He also like to roll a ball and crawl after it then roll it again etc! He seems more settled and is sleeping a little better.

Lasagne and vegetable frittas

Sorry for the delay blog fans! We have been decorating our living room and no time for blogging I'm afraid!

Thursday - can't quite remember lunch - breakfast was the usual I'm sure.

Tea was lasagne and he enjoyed it at first but got pretty cross and tired half way through so not a huge ammount was eaten in the end.

Friday JJ ate a better breakfast and was quite enjoying heaps of my cornflakes.

Lunch was a home-made hummus and grated carrot wrap - JJ didn't like my hummus I think it was too lemony, and so he wouldn't eat the wrap. He had some philly on toast and lots a fruit was offered instead but he wasn't too keen. He had some of a frozen Little Yeos but got brain freeze! He enjoyed it though.

For tea I made JJ vegetable frittas (will post the recipe) and he quite liked them but only after a tantrum to remove his bib! He also had a baked sweet potato and lots of fruit.

Wednesday 12 September 2007

Scary tea time!

Tired sleepy boy!

JJ had some breakfast this morning which was an improvement on yesterday (although he had been up a lot in the night again)and enjoyed a few of my cornflakes with his weetabix .

He had some philly on toast for lunch with quite a bit of yogurt and banana from his dad.

For tea he had mashed potato, sausage, broccoli and califlower with plum for pudding. He is still finding it very funny to sqiush and throw food but it tends to be back down onto his tray now which is not so bad.

He also scared the life out of me - I took of the main tray off his high chair which holds him in quite securely, and there is a small play tray underneath. I tend not to strap him in as there is no way he can get out with his tray on and I think I could whip him out quickly if he were choking that way. Anyway, I took off the big tray turned round to put it on the side and when I turned back he had stood up in his high chair and was grinning at me over the back!!! I am such a bad mummy! If he had fallen I would have never forgiven myself! He thought it was great though. From now on he will be strapped in or I will leave the big tray on at all times. He then decided it was great fun to pull himself up for the rest of the evening onto his toys, sofa etc. It amazes me how he just start doing these things almost out of the blue.

Tuesday 11 September 2007

No food today thanks mum!

JJ was feeling a bit under the weather today (up a lot in the night ARGGGHHH!) and ate very little - pretty uch no breakfast, a suck on one piece of quesadilla for lunch and a small amount of omlette and broccoli for puding with one slice of pear.

There was no tempting him I'm afraid - poor little man!

He did however have a great time playing with (and eating!) the tissues from the tissue box and playing with his friend Kiri - so cute!

Monday 10 September 2007

Liver disaster!

JJ ate a bit more for breakfast today - he had weetabix as usual and a few of my cornflakes which he picked up like a pro.

Lunch was french bread toast spread with philly and mashed sardines which he really enjoyed. He had some pear for pudding.

For tea I did JJ some liver with mash and veggies. He isn't a huge meat fan and usually has a quick suck and puts it down. Today however he really liked the liver and sucked away - the only problem was it was tough as old boots!! He couldn't actually eat any. I followed Delia's advice to the letter having never cooked it before but it was horrid so I will casserole the rest tomorrow and try it that way! He had cinnamon apples for pudding which he gobbled up with a smile on his face!

Scrambled eggs and food flinging

Weetabix

Sweet potato and bean burgers - recipe on the blog!

Sunday was the usual breakfast but JJ didn't eat any of it - he just wanted to throw it all on the floor. We have never really had this problem with JJ before and I thought we had avoided it but he found it hilarous today!

Lunch was scrambled egg and french bread toast (I find he much prefers toasted french bread to normal bread and will eat much more). He quite liked it but ended up throwing it about again. He had some pear for pud.

Tea was veggies and my made up sweet potato and kidney bean burgers (recipe on the blog - see links). Once again most of it went on the floor - he didn't really have an appetite but enjoyed what he did eat. He also discovered the cup holder on his tray - it has always been there but he hasn't noticed it before - he enjoyed putting his toast and pear in there and taking it out again to eat!

Saturday 8 September 2007

Saturday was race day for JJ's daddy and after his usual breakfast of weetabix we headded off to Rutland Water to cheer him over the finish line (he completed the race in a fantastic 5 hours, 6 mins and 8 seconds for those whi are interested!)

Lunch was eaten at Rutland Water and was french bread and butter, pear, humzinger and Organix gingerbread man (and he stle some of his daddy's malt loaf!). He mainly just sucked it and ate very little thanks to all the interesting things to look at.

For tea I made a beef and red wine casserole with mash, veg and rice pudding for afters Yum!

Friday 7 September 2007

More Pasta!

Silly photos as I haven't taken many food ones lately!

JJ looking funny with his Bumgenius nappy on his head

Eating the cat toy in the cat bed! His first crawling adventure!

JJ with his Nanna x

So cute!

JJ had 1 and a half weetabix for breakfast but didn't seem that hungry (could have been something to do with a huge bf in the middle of the night - grrrr).

Lunch was a cheese pitta, home grown cherry tomato and cucumber and some yogurt and banana. It was a bit rushed really as we were due to meet our friends.

For tea we all had pasta - again! This is becaues JJ's daddy is in a very big race tomorrow (the Vitruvian half Iron Man: 1900m swim, 84km bike and 21km run) and is carbo-loading so we were too! We had pasta in a creamy tuna sauce yum - he loved the mushrooms today.

In general he hasn't seemed very hungry today but ate a reasonable amount.

Will let you know how JJ's daddy gets on tomorrow (if I'm not too tired from him gettingup at 4:30 to start his race at 6.30!!!) Good luck Johnny!!!xxx

Thursday 6 September 2007

Pasta

JJ had 2 weetabix, a plum and some nectarine for breakfast.

Lunch was a couple of cheese and apple scones which I defrosted, a pear and half a nectarine. IO must get baking as my freezer stash is about gone!

For tea we had pasta - chicken and bacon (although he didn't have the bacon). He just loves pasta - he has a big adult sized bowl but only eats about half. He shoves it in so quickly but a lot come back out when he has sucked off the sauce. He also had rice pudding.

Wednesday 5 September 2007

Daddy day

Wednesday is work day for me so daddy is in charge. JJ aparantly had a great breakfast.

Lunch after swimming was philly on toast, a plum and some yogurt and banana. JJ was quite hungry and gobbled it all up.

We had Spanish Chicken (chicken, chorizo, peppers and mushrooms in a tomato sauce) and Jacket potatoes for tea. JJ actually ate quite a bit of the chicken - in the past he has mostly just sucked it but he was definitely eating it tonight. He loved the potato as usual. He had watermelon for pudding which was very juicy and messy.

It was lovely coming in today as JJ was soooo excited to see me, he practically jumped into my arms and was giggling and kissing me. I can definitely handle working a day a week if I get a reception like that!

Lasagne

JJ has Weetabix for breakfast most days now and he seems to love it. He manages 2!

Lunch was quesadillas with Nanna and Grandad. He loved them - he had ham, cheese and grated carrot, followed by plum for afters.

Tea was lasagne for the firts time and he adored every orange mouthful! He polished of a sizeable chunk along with carrots and green beans. He was covered from head to toe in orange and had to be plonked straight in the bath.

Monday 3 September 2007

Fishcakes

Sleeping round the zoo

A biscuit on the tube

Lunch at Granny's

Sorry for the lack of updates, we have had some computer probs which are hopefully sorted now! I will try to remember what's been going on...
I think on Friday JJ had spinach and ricotta pancakes again which he quite enjoyed. For tea I made fishcakes with the leftover cod. JJ loved them and ate 3 big ones with lots of veg!

Saturday was a busy day as we went to London to meet some friends and we had lunch at London zoo but he fed most of it to the pigeons! He had jacket potatoes, veg and some omlette for tea and some rice pudding which I defrosted (it seemed to freeze well).

We have been at JJ's Nanna and Grandad's house since Sunday and went for a family party where JJ had bits and bobs from the buffet. He had fish fingers with the crumbs removed, veggies and potatoes for tea with yogurt for pudding.

Today JJ had usual breakfast, some toast, cheese and pear for lunch at his Granny's house and then pasta bolognese for tea - he ate about half a bowl and sucked the sauce and cheese of the other half! He also had some melon.
