Curry

NEW PICTURES/VIDEOS ADDED BELOW

JJ had his usual breakfast today of oatibix and fruit.

For lunch he had a wholemeal cheey pitta bread with some fruit for pudding - nectarine I think!

Tea was a bit of an experiment. I made a butternut squash curry (very mild) and he quite enjoyed it. We had it with jacket potatoes as we weren't in the mod for rice. He also did quite well with his fork - I was stabbing bits for him and he was eating them off the fork (rather than pulling them off like he did last time!). The forks we use are ikes plastic ones - 18 knives, forks and spoons for about £1 - fab! He also was offered mashed banana and yogurt but didn't want any.

Other news: JJ is able to put shapes into his shape sorter now - well he can't et them in the right holes but he just sort of drops them onto the holes and they go in. He also went to a soft play centre and had a brilliant time, crawling and climbing around.

Squash, beans and rice

JJ ate very little breakfast today but did get quite hungry later in the day, according to daddy who was in charge, so had some pear and malt loaf in the morning . He had lots of lunch - mackerel pate on toast, turkey meatballs and banana yogurt.

For tea he had some rice cakes to keep him patient! rice cakes (he likes rice cakes now but was not too fussed before) and spiced butternut squash and bean casserole - he just loved the kidney beans! He also had rice which he hasn't really had before but managed it well. He had a little treat of some custard for pud. He does seem to like having some pudding then going back to his savory and back to pudding again - odd - but if he gets fussy during a meal a few spoons of sweet and he will carry on.

Spiced squash

Breakfast was some wheatabix today which I mushed up with milk and let him feed him self like I do with yogurts. He managed ok but wasn't too impressed and when I put some shredded wheat on his tray he gobbled them up so I guess he prefers them. He also had some banana which as always had a mediocre reception.

Lunch was some steamed carrot, courgette and potato which he really wasn't interested in but did eat some. He had hiccoughs which didn't help and he has a horrid cold so I out it down to this. He has a habit at the minute of squishing food repeatedly in his hand and watching himself do it (all learning I guess) which is what happened to most of lunch.

Tea was a big success. JJ had some of our spiced butternut squash casserole which was flavoured with cumin, coriander and turmeric and he loved it (me and his dad thought the squash was a bit bland!). He also had a yogurt for pudding and had almost the whole pot (well not counting what was smeared over him and his highchair!).

He was also very close to eating some squash out of his palm.

Butternut squash

Jacob missed his lunch yesterday as he was fast asleep at lunch time and we were busy in the afternoon. He didn't seem to notice and he doesn't really eat anything anyway so he isn't 'hungry' for dinner as such. Also he has not had much movement down below recently! Nothing for almost a week (well a teeny, tiny bit today) so we thought a day off for his tummy may help. He doesn't seem bothered by it at all so I guess we will just wait and see!

Today he had some roasted butternut squash. He seemed to enjoy it and was very good at picking up the smaller bits and putting them in his mouth. He seemed to roll the bits around in his mouth for longer and kind of chew them whereas in the past he has been so excited he just stuffed things in again and again! He didn't have very much or 'eat' for very long but he enjoyed it. Today was the first time really that he lost interest and just sat and watched us eat - so he definitely knows when he has had enough.
