It has been ages since I posted - sorry! Been trying to do things other than be on the computer!
In the last week JJ has been eating well. He has had nothing new really. He did however refuse a tuna pizza I made him - he normally loves the pizzas I make but flatly refused and I am sure it was the tuna he didn't like as he has been a bit put off by it before. Never mind!
We went out for Sunday lunch yesterday and he was sooooo good. It is always so lovely to sit and eat our meal with him next to us eating his.
Today he had his new favourite - Shreddies for breakfast - lots of them!
Lunch was eaten at a friends house (Kiri had her first BLW experiece of broccoli and pear while we were there - she did soooo well!! It was wierd thinking back to the start when I was so excited when he so much as got something into his mouth - he really has come such a long way!)
Tea today was pasta with a cheese, leek, mushroom and bacon sauce I made, french bread, a yogurt and a plum. Yummy!
JJ's two front teeth are through now and he looks very cute with them. He has also learnt to nod and shake his head in the last week (which is really cute!).

Mushroom pasta
JJ had weetabix and a crumpet for breakfast (couldn't give him 2 weetabix as we ran out of milk!).
For lunch he had a cheesy pitta - but it was possbly the longest lunch ever - took him a whole hour to eat one pitta and a banana.
For tea he wolfed down a bowl of mushroom pasta and had a yogurt for pud. He seemed to really enjoy his food today.

Egg sandwiches
JJ had ready break with banana for breakfast and loved every messy minute of it!
For lunch he had egg sandwiches. He hasn't had normal sandwiches before - just things on bread, but he loved them and ate lots. He also had nectarine and raisins.
For tea we had roasted veggies with pasta and a tomato and garlic sauce. He really enjoyed it and had fruit for pudding.

Biccy thief!
Jacob had a good breakfast of some oatibix, some cornflakes a plum and half a banana - not bad considering he is now on antbiotics for a bad chest.
For lunch he had the pasta which he couldn't manage from last night. It went down well this time with some raisins and lots of juicy watermelon.
Tea was some rosemary, garlic and balsamic roast potatoes (a la Jamie Oliver!) and pork chops with roasted carrots and fruit crumble and yogurt for pud (with a tiny bit of ice cream for a treat!). He didn't eat loads but had a fair bit - not bad considering that 10 mins before tea he somehow reached a packet of custard creams which I though I had put out of reach and helped himself to one. He was so excited that he had reached them and managed to get one in his mouth that I didn't have the heart to take it off him so he ate the lot!!!

nothing new!
JJ had some oaibix for breakfast but not many and wierdly a whole banana - he doesn't often bother with banana but it was obviously what he fancied this morning!
For lunch we had philly, cheese and spinach quesadillas which seemed to go down well. He also had a mini box of rasins whch he tried as a snack for the first time yesterday. He scoops them up by the fist full!
Tea was a bit of a disaster as he had hardly slept yesterday (he is still a bit poorly and we had to go shopping for new clothes for him after he wore the same trousers for 3 days in a row!) and he was over tired. He had a few moutfuls of tuna pasta which he seemed to enjoy but got too tired. He managed a couple of spoons of greek yogurt and squished raspberries before losing the plot. He only managed a tiny bf before falling fast asleep!

More Pasta!
Silly photos as I haven't taken many food ones lately!

JJ looking funny with his Bumgenius nappy on his head

Eating the cat toy in the cat bed! His first crawling adventure!

JJ with his Nanna x

So cute!
JJ had 1 and a half weetabix for breakfast but didn't seem that hungry (could have been something to do with a huge bf in the middle of the night - grrrr).
Lunch was a cheese pitta, home grown cherry tomato and cucumber and some yogurt and banana. It was a bit rushed really as we were due to meet our friends.
For tea we all had pasta - again! This is becaues JJ's daddy is in a very big race tomorrow (the Vitruvian half Iron Man: 1900m swim, 84km bike and 21km run) and is carbo-loading so we were too! We had pasta in a creamy tuna sauce yum - he loved the mushrooms today.
In general he hasn't seemed very hungry today but ate a reasonable amount.
Will let you know how JJ's daddy gets on tomorrow (if I'm not too tired from him gettingup at 4:30 to start his race at 6.30!!!) Good luck Johnny!!!xxx

Pasta
JJ had 2 weetabix, a plum and some nectarine for breakfast.
Lunch was a couple of cheese and apple scones which I defrosted, a pear and half a nectarine. IO must get baking as my freezer stash is about gone!
For tea we had pasta - chicken and bacon (although he didn't have the bacon). He just loves pasta - he has a big adult sized bowl but only eats about half. He shoves it in so quickly but a lot come back out when he has sucked off the sauce. He also had rice pudding.

Fishcakes
Sleeping round the zoo
A biscuit on the tube
Lunch at Granny's
Sorry for the lack of updates, we have had some computer probs which are hopefully sorted now! I will try to remember what's been going on...
I think on Friday JJ had spinach and ricotta pancakes again which he quite enjoyed. For tea I made fishcakes with the leftover cod. JJ loved them and ate 3 big ones with lots of veg!
Saturday was a busy day as we went to London to meet some friends and we had lunch at London zoo but he fed most of it to the pigeons! He had jacket potatoes, veg and some omlette for tea and some rice pudding which I defrosted (it seemed to freeze well).
We have been at JJ's Nanna and Grandad's house since Sunday and went for a family party where JJ had bits and bobs from the buffet. He had fish fingers with the crumbs removed, veggies and potatoes for tea with yogurt for pudding.
Today JJ had usual breakfast, some toast, cheese and pear for lunch at his Granny's house and then pasta bolognese for tea - he ate about half a bowl and sucked the sauce and cheese of the other half! He also had some melon.

An exciting new breakfast and lunch
Will post the video soon when I have charged the battery!
A bare cupboard forced the invention of a new breakfast today which luckily was a big success. I made some readybrek with less milk than it states so it was extra thick, I then mashed some banana and mixed it in. It was thick enough for JJ to messily scoop up and eat - he loved it (see the video!). I only made a half quantity as I expected him to reject it like he has done with normal ready brek, and he polished it off so quickly I had to hastily make some more (which he didnt eat in the end even though it was thicker and much better!).
Lunch was another big success! We tried mini pittas filled with grated carrot and grated cheese mixed with a bit of cumin and toasted. He loved them and ate 2 full ones. A good tip is to buy a pack of 10 mini pittas and freeze them indivdually. They defrost really quickly and I used to throw half a pack away as we didn't get through them. This way we always have some to hand! He also had the leftover banana readybrek mixed with some creamy greek yogurt - yumm - he loved it! It would make quite a substantial dessert for those days when he doesn't seem to have had much and is only keen on dessert!
Tea was baked cod, broccoli and pasta and pesto. He enjoyed this and ate a fair amount but not loads due to his huge lunch I think!
He also enjoyed a flying visit from Nanna and Grandad before bed - he sends you both a big sloppy kiss! xxx

Seaside fun!
JJ's daddy gave him breakfast today as I was packing to go to the seaside for a couple of days with some friends. He had the usual plus some rather juicy watermelon (judging by the colour of his sleepsuit).
Lunch was unfortunately another omlette! We arrived at my parents where we are house sitting and there wasn't much BLW friendly food in so an omlette it was and he ate the lot despite having a big BF just before. He also ate a fair few blueberries.
After an afternoon on the rather windy yet pleasant beach, JJ enjoyed his favourite pasta with cheese sauce and just about ate his own body weight in pasta! He also had some mango and a few more blueberries for good measure.
He then had a bath with his friends Lola and Rosie which he found very exciting! We might even have an ice cream tomorrow! (bad mummy!!)

Lunch in the sun, more pasta and a lolly!
JJ was somewhat irritated by the piece of bread stuck to the end of his nose!
trying to pick up the teensiest tiniest piece of onion
Look at my lovely lolly!
JJ's daddy was in charge of the usual breakfast.
Lunch was lovely as we all had lunch outside at our new table (hastily erected 30 seconds before lunch). JJ seems to enjoy eating outside - he had some pitta and philly, lettuce, tomato, apricot and nectarine oh and some new potato. As usual he had some but not a huge amount. Getting to be quite a pattern at lunch time.
For tea JJ had some pasta bolognese - it was supposed to be spaghetti (we were quite looking forward to seeing how he dealt with spaghetti!) but we had run out so pasta it was - again! Anyway he loved it - I'm sure he's Italian at heart! he had quite a lot of the meat too which is good for iron.
I made some smoothie lollies earlier in the day (whizzed up 2 plums, 1 nectarine, 2 apricots, a banana, a pot of yogurt and some milk and poured into moulds) and JJ's daddy had one for pudding which JJ had a suck of and loved so we gave him his own. He really liked it but got a bit cross when his hands got cold and I think he got brain freeze from shoving it in his mouth! He enjoyed it though and quite healthy really!

A whole lot of pasta!!
JJ had quite a good breakfast today - Oatibix are definitely his favourite at the minute.
For lunch JJ had some veggie nuggets (the last of my stash), an apricot, some ham and some tomato. He barely ate a thing - I put this down to his teeth and needing the loo half way through.
He made up for it this tea time though as he munched his way through a mountain of pasta with cheese sauce (I froze a couple of portions of sauce from the last lot I made and it worked really well). He had almost as much as I would eat! He also had a fair bit of broccoli and some carrot. He even licked out the bowl (see the video - so cute). This must be his favourite meal.

Fish and potato pie
JJ tried ready break for breakfast this morning. I spoke to the HV yesterday and she said that JJ's shredded wheat may not be enough and that the fruit he eats too doesn't count as it must be cereal. When I asked why she said it was because of the iron and vitamins added to things like wheatabix...what did the world do pre fortified cereals I ask! She also said that babies his age usually eat 1 1/2 wheatabix for breakfast - I don't think JJ usually eats that much. So I thought I would try some ready break for JJ to try like he eats yogurt. Well he hated it - and I can't blame him really. He was reaching on his tray like he wanted his usual so that's what he had (and bitesize Oatibix does have the added goodies!!).
He had his usual amount - I decided to stop worrying as I just don't think he is that hungry at breakfast - he doesn't have that much milk from me either. Gonna chill out and remind myself how well he is doing and he will eat what he needs as he has always done.
For lunch he had some potato and fish pie which we had last night and he loved it - he ate lots! He also had some nectarine but after a bowl full of pie he had no room left!
For tea he had some cheesy pasta again with some veggies. I bought some of the steamfresh packs for quick fixes and they were great - ready really quickly. Probably not as good as fresh but frozen does come pretty close nowadays (although not organic but never mind!). He enjoyed it but didn't really eat that much but he did enjoy his yogurt.

Yummy pork and pasta
JJ had the usual for breakfast.
For lunch he had some broccoli (oh how he loves broccoli!) pork and carrot and baked apple wedges with cinnamon - he seemed to enjoy his lunch.
For tea I made a cheese sauce and JJ had it with pasta - wow - he gobbled it up sooo fast! He loved it! I also gave him some banana and he ate a lot of that too, and most of a yogurt. A very successful tea!
Other news - JJ has taken to babbling this week and sounds sooo cute.

Dinner with daddy
Yuk!
I got adventurous for breakfast today and tried to make a ready brek pancake in the porridge pancake style from Aith's blog - basically just thick readybrek nuked and allowed to set. JJ didn't even entertain it and I can't blame him as it was gross! So he had some of my toast and some nectarine.
Daddy was in charge at lunch as I was out so JJ had everything that was in the fridge!! I think he had some of the leftover pancakes, some leftover turkey sausages, breastick and yogurt - ate a little bit of each bt the dog had most of it!
For tea JJ had some of our tuna pasta - he loved it! I had used a mix of round and spirally pasta and it was so funny to see JJ chasing the spirals round the tray as they were his favourite! He also had some nectarine for pud.
He is getting really good at drinking from his doidy cup which we got yesterday - much less spillage - I din't have to change his clothes today (oh - maybe coz we srtripped him for each feed!)
Check out this video of JJ letting us know he has had enough of his tea - never done this before...

Ups and downs!
Not a happy chappy
Yummy apples
Breakfast was a non starter today. DH gave JJ some shredded wheat but he just ate one, squished 2 and then stopped.
After a morning out with his daddy JJ wolfed down 3 of the veggie nuggets from the other day which I had defrosted and would have eaten more had I had them ready! He also had an Organix rusk but this generally went on the floor and not in his mouth! He seemed to really enjoy his lunch.
For tea I did him giant pasta shells and a sauce with tomato, carrot, peas onion and garlic. He got cross straight away as he found it too slippy. He had such a strop that I had to take him out of his chair and cuddle him. He munched a breadstick on my lap and I put him back in and he was much happier. I spread some of the sauce on some bread and he ate some of that. I also baked some slices of apple with some Cinnamon. He threw 3 on the floor, then loved the last 3 and would have eaten more but there wasn't any (I ate 2 thinking he wouldn't eat them!!) Ah well 2 lessons learnt.....don't give him giant pasta and make more cinnamon apples!

More of the same!
As is getting quite a pattern, JJ had his usual cereals and fruit for breakfast today - might try something more exciting soon!
His dad sorted lunch and he had pittas and smoked mackerel and cream cheese again from yesterday (this was lovely and also good on breadsticks). I was glad he liked the fish as it is great for him - the only downside is that his hands stink of it all day and his favourite hobby ATM is to shove them up mummy's nose!
At tea time JJ had some tomato pasta that I had frozen from a previous meal. He didn't get on too well with this though as freezing the pasta seemed to make it a bit tougher and chewy - might not bother any more. He had a full breadstick and only dropped the last tiny bit, and some nectarine.
Other news:
JJ spent aaaages in B&Q whilst we chose garden furniture and was so good! I had more tantrums than he did as it was boring!
He is getting such a grown up boy recently. In the past few days he has started to pull his legs up to try and crawl, bounce up and down on his bottom whilst he is playing and when he sees us, and he will happily sit and play with his toys on his own for quite a while before he gets bored. He has had the same toys for a while and has all of a sudden found different ways to play with them. He is sooooo cute!

Pasta
JJ tried some pasta today. I made a simple tomato sauce with some garlic, onions, pepper and added some grated cheese. He sucked and sucked but didn't get the hang of biting and chewing it. He was very orange by the end of the meal. He got a bit frustrated as he hadn't had his milk feed as we were at Tesco's and then he fell asleep. Normally we have lunch about 1 hour after his bf which means he isn't too hungry and is more patient. Another lesson learnt!
We have also started helping JJ to drink straight from a cup as he was not really drinking much with a spout. It is rather messy but he is getting more water (I think!). We are going to get a doidy cup to try.
